LUIGI PETTINARI

Nobleman’s bust

Tolentino 1888-1960

Luigi Pettinari, born in Tolentino in 1888, showed his strong tendency towards sculpture since he was a child.
He distinguished himself especially in the execution of busts of Tolentino’s important people. In 1914 he was given the task to create the die representing Pope Benedictus XV.
He is also remembered for the ornaments of the “Campana delle Laudi” (Lauds’ Bell), which the Italian “Comuni” gave as a gift to the city of Saint Francis, Assisi, in 1926.

ENRICO PALLORITO

Tolentino 1889-1966

Simplicity of style and intense religious contents characterise the works of Enrico Pallorito, who was particularly successful in expressing his feelings with extreme naturalness. The best expression of his art is to be admired in the silver panels kept in the Basilica of San Nicola, showing scenes of the Saint’s life.

CESARE ANGELETTI

Self-portrait
Tolentino 1904-1988

He was an extremely skilled scene-painter, as demonstrated by his sets of scenery and back-drops. He was renowned as painter as well, and his popularity derives mainly from a canvas representing Domenico Savio, characterized by the careful use of colours and the excellent command of drawing of its author. He was Francesco Ferranti’s favourite pupil, and was deeply influenced by his training.
