EMIDIO PALLOTTA

Fresco (Basilica of San Nicola)

Tolentino 1803-1868

Lucatelli’s favourite pupil, he became drawing-master in the schools of Tolentino. His portraits of Tolentino’s famous people, painted approximately in 1854 and today kept in the Marriage Chamber of the Town Hall, are quite noteworthy. All of his works are characterised by a refined tenuousness and an elegant gradualness of shades.

GEROLAMO CAPOFERRI

Tolentino 1850-1913

He was a pupil of both Allevi and Pallotta and, despite the fact he did not have the thumb of his right hand, he got a certain name especially in Rome, where he moved when still very young. An early work of his is the “Giuditta”, today kept in the Town Hall of Tolentino. In 1911 he paited the “Santa Rita”, an altar-piece now displayed in one of the chapels of the Basilica of San Nicola. In spite of a quite conventional workmanship, this work is to be admired for the accuracy of lines and the spontaneity of expression.

NICOLA REALI

Wood bas-relief

Wood piece of furniture

Tolentino 1872-1943

Self-educated, he perfected his art thanks to endless hours of hard work.
His workshop was in Tolentino, in Corso Garibaldi; there a number of delicate and graceful puttos and madonnas could be admired, together with richly carved furniture, all typical elements of the production of this “artisan” artist.
